It seems that a large percentage of Americans in our Country get their political and economic information from mainstream media alone, just read the comments section after an online news item.
I, for one, need to know the truth of the matter and not take mainstream medias words for it considering their only existence is for ratings which requires a lot of shock and awe. You can't really believe much of what they report because they either report only part of the truth and/or out and out instigate and fabricate headlines when news is slow. Most Americans don't even know this, maybe if they did they wouldn't believe what they hear and actually look to find the truth.
This 24 hr news cycle is a bane on us - turn on 5 different stations and get 5 takes. Go online and read tons of different takes on the very same subjects. It is akin to movie and food critics - it's all subjective in a way, so then why would any of us think that what we hear from the news media is fact or has any real substance?
The problem here is that many people form opinions based on misinformation and it is causing a vicious divide in our Country - as I mentioned above - read the comments section after an news item...it's spewed with racism, hate and the venom goes on and on. Is this what we are all about? Do you know how we look to other Countries? I feel ill when ever I read those comments or hear the hate on TV and in public and honestly, I am ashamed to be an American.
So where does one find the truth on an issue? Venture onto a government sight and read the actual Bill or pending legislation, find a News outlet that tells the whole truth like Mother Jones or if you don't have time and you want to hear a summary of what is going on, tune in to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow who is one news reporter who gets to the heart of the matter as well as CNN's Anderson Cooper who is only interested in real news and the real truth not a 3 minute sound bit.
Watching mainstream media, especially the likes of FOX news which by the way, is a station who's only goal is to incite and divide Americans with lies and conjured up news that wreck havoc every single day- (the station should be banned) is not where ANY of us should go to get daily information on crucial subjects that affects or is going to affect our lives.
Please, lets get the right information, all of the truth and all of the facts before any of us form opinions on anything or anyone.
You can lead a horse to water but...you can't make him drink it - if you are lead in one direction that doesn't mean it's the path you should continue on - stop, think, make sure you have all the facts - form your own decisions based on the Truth and then choose your own direction - we should all be Leaders and not Followers!
